HAIR The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical July 8 – August 1 at the Pantages Theatre, anyone seen my tye-dye shirt and my bell-bottoms? . . . Pray for no rain at the Basilica (outdoor) Block Party at the Basilica of St. Mary on 16th and Hennepin Av. S. in Mpls. for the 9th and 10th - expect standout performances with the Counting Crows, Joan Osborne and more,  tickets $10-$45 . . . Congrats to CBO’s CD release of “Covered.”  In my opinion, it is of national quality and in most cases sounds better than the original artists.  Hats Off to some mighty fine production work! - www.cbomusic.com . . .  Johnny Winter Live at the Cabooze July 10th has been rescheduled to August 8th - expect to see the whose who in local guitarists on hand picking up a few licks from one of the greatest guitarists of our lifetime.  You are going to have to keep practicing boys to keep up with Ole Johnny . . . Evanescence, whose “Fallen” became the best selling CD last year, will perform at the Target Center on the 13th of July . . . the Polaris’ 50th Anniversary Celebration will feature one of the best lineups of the summer with Jonny Lang, John Fogerty,  38 Special and Clint Black.  In case your haven’t heard Jonny’s last CD, you are doing yourself an injustice not checking out his live version of “Living in the City” previously recorded by Stevie Wonder, it rocks . . . the Phantom of Opera at the Historic Orpheum Theatre, the 14th thru Aug. 8th . . .  Britney Spears at Target Center on the 16th, CANCELLED . . .  Cowboy Junkies, July 21 at the Fitzgerald in St. Paul, who cares, not I . . . In the theatres everywhere, Kate Hudson in “Raising Helen,” or I can think of a other risings, right men, she’s HOT! www.raising-helen.com.  Of  course Goldie Hawn on screen is still my first love . . . Friday, August 6th, a classic performance at the Whiskey Jct. features one of my favorite Southern rock flavored artists, Mason Proffit.  Remember the song “Two Hangmen” . . . Aug. 7th – a night to go down in history, yes folks, I am retiring from performing, check out my LAST gig w/ Knight Crawler Live at the Whiskey Jct.  Expect guest appearances with some of my friends.  All I can say is I’ve had a great run, it’s ok I do not for a second regret my decision and plan on going out with a BANG – BE THERE!!! . . . Aug. 11th, Diana Krall – I still can’t believe she married Elvis Costello, what a waste.  You have to be in the right mood for her jing, but if contemporary jazz is where you are at, she’s pretty smooth . . .OK, brace yourself, I had to – DEEP PURPLE is coming to the Twin Cities!!  Thank you Jam Productions, check out  DP’s, Jon Lord one of the finest keyboards to grace the ivories, live in concert with Joe Satriani plus Irish rockers, Thin Lizzy, August 24th at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul . . . It’s the MN State Fair featuring the Allman Brother Aug. 31st and Miss I don’t like corn dogs if you know what I mean, Cyndi Lauper on the 1st of September.  I don’t care what most people think, she is cool!  Otherwise, most of the lineup is a yawn – a laser light show with the music of Pink Floyd, give me a break . . . Aug. 17th, Aretha Franklin the “Queen of Soul” aka “I need to be on the Adkins diet,” just kidding, she’s awesome and funky! . . .
