Derek Trucks (progressive slide guitarist and ex-member of the Allman Brothers) with special guest Joshua Redman at the Cabooze, Wednesday, April 9th. . . April 11-13, “Grease” starring Frankie Avalon at the Historic Orpheum Theatre, 612-673-0404, note – 2 shows on Saturday and Sunday . . . Kurt Jorgenson, just back from Nashville, can be seen at his new Wednesday house gig at Narrows in Navarre . . . Rare Divine starring Letitia Rae back by popular demand to the Blainbrook Bowl in Blaine for an April 12th appearance.  Tish & crew guarantee a Heart medley and at least a couple of tunes off her new solo release, which is available at the gig.  In addition, Sheryl Crow and Chicago, etc., and enough variety to spice up your life . . . Saturday, April 19th, the Star Bar in Columbia Heights plays host to another Birthday Bash with Rick Gingerelli (lead vocalist) and Bobby Thayer (bassist/vocalist) of Knight Crawler, rockin’ it out in a dynamic duo party that you won’t forget, even after everyone has gone to bed  . . . Oh, don’t forget, on the south side of town, Mark Westlund, (guitarist/lead vocalist) of Touched, celebrates his birthday as well at Bogarts in Apple Valley on the 19th . . .  Reneé Austin inked her Blind Pig recording contract and an Austin, Texas studio block in June, paving the way for this redhead diva’s first step at National exposure on the airwaves.  Check her out live at Dean’s in St. Paul April 11th, - expect a September release . . . “What Is Life?”, a George Harrison Tribute at the Cabooze in Minneapolis, April 25th, “Here Comes the Sun,” – cool . . . Watch for an upcoming Corey Stevens DVD filming in the Twin Cities (most likely at Famous Dave’s).  I will keep you posted . . .  Bonnie Raitt on the 3rd of May for a Pacer Center Benefit concert at the Minneapolis Convention Center, $50 for the cheap seats and $200 up-close, 952-838-9000.  Check out her last release.  It is truly a gem, even though it hasn’t totally caught the media’s attention . . .
