Happy New Year and Happy Birthday to all Capricorns!  One “birthday bash” close to my heart rocks in at The Breakaway Bar in Robbinsdale Saturday January 3rd, featuring Knight Crawler in celebration of Dave Wing and yours truly birthdays in a post-New Year’s celebration. This is a great excuse to toast in the New Year once again with your friends.  I don’t want to forget to mention, this will also be a 12th year anniversary celebration for Crawler as well.  Where does all the time go?  Need anymore reasons to see your buddies that you haven’t seen for a while?  How’s that for hype and a little self-indulgence? I beg you - come party with us - snooze, you loose . . . Also on the local scene, Hairball blasts over to Dibbo’s in Hudson, WI on the 10th of January . . . Local artist, Reneé Austin begins her Floridian tour and quest for National tour support January 9th, which includes appearances on the Sandy Beaches Cruise Ship departing from Port Canaveral on the 11th. . . On January 11th, David Bowie in concert at the Target Center, tickets only $38.75 and $56.75, phone Ticketmaster at 651 989-5151 – Bowie ranks as one of my favorite concerts of all time. You won’t be disappointed. . .January 21st the Chicago Blackhawks invade territories at the Xcel Energy Center for an action packed face-off on the ice with your Minnesota Wild . . .The NFL playoffs are in full gear, any bets?  Janet Jackson is scheduled to sing during half-time festivities at the Super Bowl.  You can bet Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis will be at the game.  Now the Vikings, that may be a different story. . . Check out downtown St. Paul’s newest live music venue, the Rockin’ Lobster featuring live entertainment 5 days a week.  It’s located at 354 Wabasha Street North.  For directions phone 651 665-0100. . . Hail to the Irish!  Last month, Ireland’s Rosanna Davison was crowned Miss World at a pageant held in the southern Chinese resort city of Sanya.  My trip to Dublin last summer was a highlight of my life, you gotta go.  Ben Craig, an agent at American Masters Entertainment in Minneapolis, is currently in Dublin with his darling wife, who was a former lead vocalist with the touring troupe, Riverdance.  Ben coordinates the talent locally at the Mainstreet Bar & Grille in Hopkins. . .Lang alert:  Jesse is upscaling the amount of local play-dates in the month of January with performances at Decoys in White Bear Lake on the 3rd, Salida Events Center in Big Lake on the 16th, Decoy’s/Hopkins on 17, Sidneys After Dark in Eagan on the 24th and Whiskey Jct. on the 30th.  Jesse also has also been chosen as an artist to showcase at the Minnesota State Fair Convention at the Radisson in Hopkins on the 17th as Jonny had done once upon a time. While we’re on the topic of outstanding blood lines – have you heard about Jessica Simpson’s 19 year old sister, Ashlee?  You will.  Watch for a heavy rock release for the summer. Have you ever heard the expression  “the writing is on the wall”. . .Did you know that Robert’s in Moundsview is a little bit country, but now also a little bit rock n’ roll.  Check out their new format, sound system and web-site at www.robertssportsbar.com. . .Last seen at the Star Bar, the band Elixur spread rumors that the band is calling it quits . . . For you local golf fanatics that have stored the clubs away for the winter, its back into bars for video golf and gossip.  On the national circuit, Tiger Woods’ engagement has gone public with 2004 wedding plans in the works.  Now, if you had your game up to par, you could have a beautiful Swedish blonde for a wife too.  C’est la vie.  Up Next: The Annual MMRA event at the Medina Ballroom in Hamel featuring Austin Healy, February the 7th . . .
