go out to First Avenue for being named one of the 10 Best U. S. Clubs according
to Playboy.com, also cheese headquarters to
the East at the U of WI was named Playboy’s No. 1 Party School, right on! . .
. Prince was nominated for a Grammy for Best R&B Album “3121” and male
R&B Vocal “Black Sweat.” Dylan was nominated for Best Rock Song and Solo
Rock Vocal as well as Contemporary Folk Album. Winners to be announced Feb. 11th,
’07 . . . In December, Twins right-hander Brad Radke officially announced the
end of his major league baseball career after 12 seasons with the Twins.

Alvin Lee of Ten Years After celebrated his 62nd birthday in
December. Wow, we are all getting a little older, and if that doesn’t give you
a reality check, guitarist Dave Murray of Iron Maiden turned 50. My birthday is
on the 6th of January and I will not tell you how old I am, on a high
note, let’s just say I will be the same age as Kim Basinger.
Now I know Brooke Hogan is only 18 and JoJo is 15, but don’t forget
about us old farts, good music never dies, only matures with age. Speaking of
good music, check out Winger’s new Shrapnel release “Winger IV” – in
stores now! . . . Scarlet Haze in concert at the Fine Line Music Café in Mpls.,
Jan. 6th . . . Here’s one for the record books, Guinness-recognized
world’s oldest person dies at 116.
Also, the “Godfather of Soul” aka James Brown passed in December,

London, organist Matthew Fisher has been entitled to both credit and royalties
for his part in the ’67 hit, “Whiter Shade of Pale,” that a boy, it is the
coolest recognized keyboard melody line of all time - Justice served! . . .
Quietdrive to tour with Bowling for Soup this coming January, now how cool is
that, actually I am not so sure . . . Support Skywynd’s debut performance at
Bunkers in Minneapolis on Jan. 12th. . . Dawg Wild, Chain Lightning,
the Marshall Tucker Band & Molly Hatchet live at Myth in Maplewood, Fri.
Jan. 19th, holy southern fried rock, expect some real cowgirls honky

year’s Grammy Nominee for Best Rock Gospel Album “Turn Around,” is
