Nite Crawl

September

By Roger Anderson

Now that the State Fair has come to a close, and even though that last pronto pup and lemonade tasted so good, maybe a cheaper date is the ticket, since we spent way more than anticipated.  Maybe an indoor theatre would fit the budget and be a relaxing getaway with one of my all-time dream flicks, which has become a reality, it’s “Freddy vs. Jason.”  I’m there shakin’ in my boots and lovin’ every minute of it.  And if that isn’t good enough for you, check out “Lara Croft - Tomb Raider The Cradle Of Life.” Go to TombRaiderMovie.com  That chick is incredible and very sexy! . . . On the 3rd of September, laugh your ass off with Dennis Miller at Mystic Lake Casino.  P.S. I still think he was cool on “Monday Night Football” . . . Barenaked Ladies at the Cities 97 Concert in the Park.  I must admit I do like their new radio hit for a change, something about a million dollars with catchy answer back lyrics - it’s entertaining . . . Anyone not been to the Southside Music Café in Burnsville?  Check out Molly Nova and the Hawk on Thursday, September 4th. . . My favorite band of all time – CHEAP TRICK, featuring Robin Zander and Rick Nielsen, hailing from Rockford, IL , with Cake at the Historic Orpheum Theatre on the 11th . . . Friday the 13th of September, don’t miss Knight Crawler in an intimate setting at Doc’s Landing in White Bear, MN . . . ZZ Top and Ted Nugent on the 13th at Float-Rite Park Amphitheater in Somerset, WI.  I’ll be wearing my cheap sunglasses, it’s outdoors! Does Ted have his bow and arrow with him again?. . .  Happy Birthday to Dave Waggoner of Crow on the 13th. . . KC and the Sunshine Band rivals the local Boogie Wonderland, but KC is the real deal – live at Mystic Lake Casino, Sept. 15th . . . REM at Xcel Energy Center, Sept. 16th . . . The Jayhawks at First Avenue on the 20th, I don’t see the coolness, but other people do - so be it . . . SEPTEMBER 23RD, RENEÉ AUSTIN DID IT – CHECK OUT HER NEW NATIONAL RELEASE ON BLIND PIG RECORDS,

CONGRATULATIONS! . . . Remember Mr. Nibs?  I do.  Check out Gary Starks (former Nibs bossman) and his venue, Starks, in Eagan with a Rare Divine show on Saturday, the 27th.  If you haven’t seen RD, you should.  Letitia Rae (of Slave Raider fame) has a band that is as good as it gets.  Yes, she still does “Barracuda.” . . . Up Next:  Emmylou Harris, Monday, October 13th at the Historic State Theatre. . . “The Vagina Monologues at the Ordway Oct. 14-19.  My curiosity has me wanting to check this out - blame me? . . . A debut with Jesse Lang (20 year old diva) for the “Roadtrip of the Month,” check her out at Boxer’s in Faribault, Saturday, Oct. 18th. . . For you “rock sluts” get off with a gazmic alternative with a Skid Row (without Sebastian) concert at the Rock in Maplewood, also on the 18th. . . Tony, “Left His Heart in San Francisco,” Bennett and, I already have tickets - see you there!  A MUST SEE- Tuesday, Oct. 21st! . . . SHANIA TWAIN - Up! Tour - In The Round,Oct. 28th at Xcel Energy Center, www.shaniatwain.com. Need I say More!! . . . Have you see the newest southern-rockers in town – Dawg Wild?  You will.  They’re great.  I got a sneak preview at their rehearsal facility.  They rate - especially on the Allman Brothers. . .  Yes, folks - where did the summer go?  I don’t know, but it sure was fun!  My highlight of the summer – The Grand Nationals in Brainerd at BIR!  Awesome ……….
