In 1987, Skid Row was born in a garage somewhere in Toms River, N.J. Like a bastard child of a thousand maniacs, they relentlessly pounded the New Jersey club circuit, packing houses wherever they performed.

Fast forward to 1989. Skid Row’s debut album, Skid Row, went on to sell over 5 million copies in the U.S.A., along with a tour that took them around the world. The album has since been certified 5 times platinum by the RIAA.

In 1992, the band released their second record, Slave to the Grind, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts, making them the first heavy metal/hard rock band to do so and being certified 2 times platinum. In 1995, the band’s relationships were severely strained, but they reluctantly went into the studio to record Subhuman Race. Soon thereafter, the band parted ways.

In late 1999, founding members Rachel Bolan, Scotti Hill, and Snake Sabo decided that Skid Row meant far too much to them to let the music fade into rock obscurity. There were changes to be made - the question was “who.” That’s when Texan singer Johnny Solinger entered the picture and Thickskin was released followed by a fifth album, Revolutions Per Minute.

Twelve years later, Skid Row continues to tour worldwide with Johnny Solinger on vocals. They are currently writing and recording new material for their sixth studio album set to release in late Spring 2012.
